Monthly Challenge - February 2011 - Let's Recycle

Morning everyone.
Recycling is the name of the game this month. Whenever I look in my recycling box, I'm always shocked by how much packaging we throw away. So this month we are going to create a project using recycled paper materials only (so no off the shelf papers allowed) plus make recycled paper flowers with any Cricut cart. You could use old magazines, leaflets, junk mail, cardboard food packaging etc. In fact anything that will run through your Cricut. Upload your creations here and let us know what packaging you've used and what carts.

If you are making a card do you want the base to be recycled too?

Good point Liz. If you can use a recycled base, that would be great, but if you don't have anything suitable, then use whatever card stock or blank you have.

Just opened up my copy of Simply Cards and Papercraft and there's an article in there about using newspaper on your cards. Great inspiration.

This challenge is harder than I thought, I tried to cut some circles out of a pop bottle and fringe the ends, then I used sharpie pens to colour the ends in and it looked terrible . Oh well will have another go later

Keep up the efforts Lesley, I am sure you will come up with something!

Here's my card for the challenge. I used some H&M gift boxes, a button from a shirt and some ribbon from a toiletry set I got for Christmas. I didn't use a recycled card blank as I couldn't find anything suitable. The flower cut came from Create a Critter - Page 62 Accessory.

I'm going to make another card using old envelopes. How are we getting on with the challenge ladies?

Kerry Im going to have another go tomorrow as the first attempt was a disaster. My family think Im mad saving all the boxes I get from perfume, smellies ect.
Your card is great loving the colours, could double up as a Valentines card. Looking forward too seeing your next creation.

Hi Lesley. I'm sure it was great but we are always critical of our own work. I've been trying to look at other things like bottle tops and plastic, but it's not always as easy as you first think. I've made another card, but it's too dark to photograph it now, but I'm back to card and paper again

I have been trying to make a flower out of pop bottles and news paper to put onto a headband, because the pop bottle is shaped it's very difficult to get them to stay flat. will have to think of something else

A hammer is a great idea at the moment , I have tried again and again it has gone in the bin. I think im going to try again tomorrow perhaps on something more easier.

Now don't laugh but for my recyling I used.......yup a sanitary towel wrapper!!! I loved the pattern!! i kept looking at it and thinking how pretty it was and how I had some ink that would match it!!!! oh the joys of being a girl!!!!
the brown cardstock is a recycled card file folder and i love it, have been using it loads on cards because it reminds me of kraft card!!!!

Here's another easy card from me using envelopes. The Kraft envelope was sent from France and it seemed a shame to throw it away. The flower comes from George - Page 120 Shadow Blackout.
