Very Happy Hello peeps!!!
I thought I would start a little thready on my new MTC to share with you all what I think so far!!

now I haven't really played much or cut anything yet but the main advantage it has over SCAL for me at the minute is that you dont have to download inkscape or anything like that, it just comes as it is and the updates for it are totally free. ( sometimes you have to pay with SCAL for updates)

welding and shadows are super duper quick and i love the way you can cut any fonts on your computer I just need to play a little more so whenever i have achieved any teensy small thing i will post it on here for you all to peeky at!!!!! lol!! Smile

I shall be very interested in your comments Lou as I am not an inkscape fan even though I have Sure Cuts A Lot.

Its awesome software You can cut dingbats fonts with it design any jpeg/clipart image and turn it into a cutting file and then cut it on the cricut it has a rheinstone template feature lattice maker and lots of free shapes and lots more. I'm not sure but I think it's only downloadable and its about $89.00

go to www.fairycut.com and I think you can download a free trial or goggle it and see tutorials on youtube.

I have the pazzle and it does alot more than fairy cut but costs alot more so its a maybe for me. But do try it, it's fab software.

Thanks Liz adverts gone.

that sounds a lot like this one chris, you can do all those things too i think. I think they are all fab really, just such a shame cricut hasn't gotten on board and updated design studio in the same way.
i have had so much fun fiddling today, might get time to do some more tomorrow!!

I think cricut are bringing something new out to replace the DS. Chris on the US MB said that there is going to be a addition to the cricut family, bet it will also cost a fourtune knowing Provo Craft as we do, so I'll sit tight for a while and wait & see.

I would be really interested in hearing how you get on with MTC. I downloaded the trial version last week as I was interested in seeing what it can do! It wasnt as easy as I first expected, but that was only because I had watched videos on You Tube that were very imformative, but must have been recorded using an old version!

I really wanted it for cutting images that arent available as cartridges! My 3 year old daughter is crazy for Peppa Pig, and to be able to cut those images would be great. I did import a piccie off the internet, but as yet havent quite finished messing about with it.

I will let you know how I get on!

Nicky have you looked at the blog that Lou recommended earlier, although I dont have the software it seems extremely informative and as they are recent posts I assume she is using a recent version.

Hi Lucy
I have a question about MTC. i have SCAL which I bought when it first came out and you needed DS in order for it to work. Do you have to have DS for MTC to work do you know? I only ask because there are lots of rumours on the MB that they might be doing away with DS and bringing out a new one which I assume will block 3rd party software like SCAL and MTC. I would love MTC but would hate to spend on it and then not be able to use it.
Thanks Lucy

Hiyah Julie.
all you need for make the cut is the free trial version of cricut design studio so that your cricut can update its firmware. you still need a cartridge in the cartridge slot for your mat to load/unload your mat.
i have to say i am loving it so far and i have always loved my design studio to but MTC is something i have wanted since it came out as i love the font cutting thing and the fact that you do not need inkscape to cut images out. also the updates are free for it which is lovely and you can import SVG's soooooo easily ready for cutting, its fab hun really.
I will try and get my little card finished to show you all that i downloaded from penny duncan's site, she is such an awesome lady.

Hi Lou

You dont need inkscape anymore for SCAL so long as you have SCAL 2 it has its own trace part to the program. I haven't had to pay for any updates up to press. Lou have you noticed that Penny is doing a designer spot for us?

thanks Lucy for the great info I think i'll have to try the trial versionand have a look! My only fear is if theydo discontinue DS that they will discontinue the trial version DS too, I use DS all the time and love it so i hope they don't pull it for a new version that won't accept MTC or SCAL but that is the rumour on the MB so i will wait and see before buying the full version of MTC, I'm waiting to see if anything is announced at CHA at the end of Jan.
Looking forward to seeing your card using MTC I've been following Penny Duncan for a while she does fab work
Hugs to Little Mo he looks soooo cute in your avatar!

As I understand it DS is only used to make sure the Expression/bug is up to date. Is this going to be done from the new sync?
