Help - popups popups and even more popups!

How do we get rid of these pop ups that tell us we have a message and they are a competition entry or something else? I have clicked on my messages thinking somebody wanted to contact me and it was a site offering me a mini cooper if I entered a competition and I couldn't get rid of it. Is there a setting I have to set?

I've just got one of these when I added you to my friend list not had it happen before, I though it was you replying to my request. No it was a holiday loland now cant get rid.

This message you described has not appeared until 20 min ago for me. I do not know the answer straight off so I will have to dig to find the answer. If I cant find the answer then I can hand build the forum on one of my servers but I tried a free option first to see if it was a popular idea or not as coding for hour after hour would not be viable to me if nobody had any interest. So can I ask you to leave this one with me and I will hunt for an answer.

My big wonder is why it has just started! I am afraid it is something in the coding that allows it which is outside my jurisdiction but lets not give up until I have tried! If it is the coding why wasnt it there from the beginning!

If we think these might be refered to as adverts then you have to buy credits to disable the adverts for either registered users or members? You then disable them for periods of time 1 month, 2 months etc etc. Do you think I might be on the right track here?

Funnier and funnier Kerry they are appearing below the tags forum home etc and above the posts they can say you have a message or download and play buttons or what is your level of intelligence! which is why I think they may be classified as ads in which case I need to pay to remove!

Can all those suffering with the annoying things, which I now believe are adverts, have gone. Mine have gone so I am hoping the choice and payment I have made has removed them for everybody. I bought enough credits to remove them for two months for both members and guests. If after the two month period everybody is still happy with the forum I will need to extend the advert disabling.
I suppose of you think about it the adverts make sense! The forum coding is free so the creator gets nothing, if they sell advertising space then the creator gets whatever they charge for this, so if you want no adverts then they make a charge to remove them and then the creator still gets some dosh. They always say nothing in life is free!
